Sales Update. THIRTY ONE lots have been sold or are under contract: 25 Sold, 6 Under Contract and 2 Reserved to Southland Log Home Models PLUS 2 RESERVED LOTS WITH SPEC. CABINS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. There are 9 lots with finished homes. #48 has a very nice cabin, which is approximately 1,600 heated square feet with cypress exterior, COMPLETED that is for sale. In addition there are two model homes built by Southland Log Homes that are currently for sale. We also have 2 lots reserved where spec. cabins are being built. More details on these will be coming.

Harvest Success in 2007-2008. Fifteen mature bucks were harvested during the 2007-2008 deer season. The average weight was 191pounds and averaged more than 8 points. Eleven of the bucks were 3 ½ or older and only four were 2½ (one of these had a broken leg and was "put down" to relieve his pain). Patrick Durfee, lot 15, harvested a super 8 pointer that scores over 150 Boone and Crocket score. Congratulations, Patrick on outwitting this old guy that was at least 5½ years old. No does were harvested as the now 220 acres of food plots supplied more than enough food for all the critters at Ocmulgee Banks! We also harvested 183 hogs in 2007 which produced over 5 tons of wonderful pork for the freezer. Our hog population is under control and proves to test the stalking ability of our owners. They have gained the respect of all hunters because of their ability to out wit the best of our hunters. They humble the best of us daily!

Required Hunter Ed Course Conveniently Available Online Taking a hunter education class in Georgia is easier than ever, according to the Georgia DNR. Hunters can access an approved hunter education course online at www.beasafehunter.org, use a hunter education CD-Rom or take the traditional classroom course. The Internet and CD-Rom courses satisfy eight of the ten required hours to complete the course. Hunters then must attend a two-hour (minimum) review / test course and if all requirements are met successfully, students receive their hunter education certificate before leaving the classroom. Harvest Success in '06/'07 Nine mature bucks were harvested during the 2006-07 deer season. The average weight was 205 pounds!! All the bucks were 3 ½ years old or older except one that was 2 ½. No does were harvested as the 200+ acres of food plots supplied more than enough food for all the critters at Ocmulgee Banks! In addition, during January 2007 Dr. Woods prescribed that at least 60 hogs be harvested by June 1st. The owners have exceeded his prescription and have harvested more than 150 hogs by September 1, 2007! This managment effort has paid huge dividends to the sucess of the food plots and less competition for the quality native forage at Ocmulgee Banks.
